Emerging indie country-pop artist Essi’s dynamic voice and knack for crafting relatable melodies take listeners on an evocative trip through love, life and self-discovery. From rural Goondiwindi Queensland, now residing 500 kilometers East on the Sunshine Coast, Essi blends country storytelling with infectious hooks and lyrics. Her performances are brimming with energy, honesty and connection.

Essi began performing in a corporate band at the young age of 16 alongside her then-music mentor, who had worked with the likes of Crowded House. She later took on her first solo performance as pre-show entertainment for Kate Miller-Heidke’s Maleny concert in 2015. Since then Essi has performed countless events and venues across Queensland and New South Wales, including Gympie Music Muster, opening Caitlyn Shadbolt and Melanie Dyer’s ‘Dumb Decisions’ Gympie show, Brisbane Ekka, Tamworth CMF, Noosa Food & Wine Festival, Hot 91.1FM Summer Sky Show, Eumundi Country Music Festival and her first three sold out shows at Mooloolaba’s Bucking Seahorse. She has also performed multiple Polocrosse carnivals across Queensland, and played her own radio segment over several months in 2017 with Sunshine Coast 91.9SeaFM.

Over the last few years Essi has been collaborating with multiple artists, writers and producers, composing tracks for herself and other artists. She began cowriting over Zoom sessions during the pandemic, with Phil Barton (Nashville), Melanie Dyer and Caitlyn Shadbolt. After lockdown restrictions lifted, she began regular trips to Sydney to further connect and collaborate with other creatives such as Liam Quinn (Peach PRC). This soon lead to her involvement in a Bali songwriting workshop in late 2023 organised by Sydney-based ‘The Artist Studio’. Over the time of these Sydney and Bali trips and workshops, Essi has connected and worked with the likes of Pinkiscool (Peking Duck, GRAACE, The Veronica’s), Liam Quinn (Peach PRC, Guy Sebastian, Jessica Mauboy) and Aria-award-winning Aidan Hogg (G Flip, Jaguar Jonze).

In December of 2023 Essi released her debut acoustic single ‘Clouds’, which shines a spotlight on her vulnerable songwriting and vocals. This raw acoustic track invites listeners on a journey through lyrics that captivate and inspire, introducing Essi as an artist and performer in her truest form. Following this, she released her latest single ‘Alcohol & Boys’ in early February this year. This song elevates the acoustic foundation of the song with pop country production, the second collaboration between Essi and local Sunshine Coast producer Trentan Kruger. The song was written by Essi and Tallou, two best friends navigating their 20’s together, and all of the coping mechanisms, relationship challenges and general ‘making it through’ that come with this. In an age of self care and ‘situationships’ ‘Alcohol & Boys’ is an ode to trying, but never truly having life figured out.

Over the last twelve months Essi has been hard at work in the studio creating her debut EP, and excitement is building for its planned release later this year.
